Kennerly is the former office assistant to Pat Montandon and Children As The Peacemakers (now Peace to the Planet), a role she held when she was at University of San Francisco in the early 1990s at a time of heightened gun violence against children (sad to be writing this again), Kennerly came on board for the California Banner of Hope project to honor and memorialize more than 8,000 kids who'd been killed by guns in the state and to bring massive attention to this tragedy. The fluttering white banner was unfurled ceremoniously at St. Mary's as well as in a gorgeous event attended by politicians, public officials, community leaders and concerned citizens at Grace Cathedral. Kennerly also helped with fundraising for the foundation through the International Gathering of Angels event, a precursor to the Celebrities and Their Angels book by Pat Montandon, as well as grant writing and other communications, such as, oh, you know, writing letters to the Pope and such. She is now an accomplished writer and editor residing in Philadelphia with her husband and two boys. Pat Montandon is one of her great mentors in life and an enduring friend, and Kennerly is a passionate "keeper of the flame" for the accomplishment and contribution to the world that Children As The Peacemakers and its founder have been.
