I am looking to re-tool an unsuccessful proposal that was submitted by one of our partner organizations (for a separate opportunity) to the IUCN/National Geographic Species Recovery grant opportunity. I would like to insert more collaboration via the network, with Laukahi as the lead (and transporter of plants). This re-tooling will then be applied to other unsuccessful, partner proposals for a better chance of success through network collaboration.
What we have in place
- We currently have the past partner proposal, and RFP from IUCN, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a 5-year Action Plan and Hawaii Strategy for Plant Conservat, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,930 , allowing us to maintain our momentum with a staff of 1 (me) in applying for project grants that will accomplish objectives in the HSPC. This will also allow the Coordinator to search for vital operational funding.
Three of the targets listed in the Hawaii Strategy for Plant Conservation (HSPC) refer to conservation of SCI both in situ and ex situ, and ensuring propagules are available for restoration (#7,8,9). This project is aligned with our mission in that regard, and will help to complete those targets by 2023. The project is also aligned with our mission to support our partner organizations.

Our mission
The Laukahi Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection and conservation of Hawai`i's unique floral biodiversity.
What we do
Through the establishment of this Network, relationships and communication among conservation agencies across the state is facilitated. This allows for collective planning and goal setting for efficient resource use, metrics to monitor progress and goals, information exchange, and creates opportunities for attracting new revenue sources.

Truly a collaborative process with Emily as an incredible thought-partner in developing a comprehensive approach to this grant proposal outline.
