What we'd like to talk about
We need help in clarifying the roles and responsibilities of Board and staff at our community-based meditation center.
Additional context
We are a small primarily volunteer organization that has gone through a lot of changes since it began as the vision of its founder in 2007. We need help to define the roles of Board and staff which feel quite entangled at the moment, so that we can move forward in offering programs to the community to foster well-being and peace.
"Phone calls" are 1 hour, one-time calls with an organization. Learn the difference between volunteering on a Phone call and a Project here.
Our mission
The mission of Springboard Meditation Sangha is to support and encourage meditation in a community setting. We began in 2007 in response to the growing popularity of mindfulness meditation, and the resulting need for a physical location. "Sangha" means "community" in Sanskrit.
We are nondenominational and strive for inclusion based on race, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, cultural and religious background, class, age, and physical ability.
What we do
We offer meditation, yoga and other programs seven days a week, mainly free or donation-based. We also work in local libraries, religious organizations and with other groups. A new initiative is mindfulness practice in public schools.
Testimonials
Rebecca enabled me to step back and see the larger context and questions underlying our current problem. I appreciated that she had reviewed the materials I had sent her ahead of our call. She had many creative ideas about how to proceed, and brought a balanced perspective. It was easy to talk with her, and there was a good back-and-forth. As a result, I have shifted my thinking about our next steps. A very productive and inspiring hour!
