What we need
  • Document outlining relationship of board to your organization, including its role, responsibilities, and structure
  • Document defining the roles and responsibilities of individual board members, including empty seats if applicable
Additional details

We are looking to create a better, more effective outline for the responsibilities and roles for our board members, as well as creating a board orientation packet to easily onboard new members.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a roles and responsibilities document for the board, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have an idea of how to improve what we currently have in place, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $14,873 , allowing us to continue serving the mental health and physical health needs of the families in our community.

We are a newer nonprofit with a low budget and a high needs community we serve. Streamlining our board roles and responsibilities, as well as onboarding process, will not only give our board a better idea of what we do as an organization, but will also give newer members a broader understanding of what their contributions are going toward. With a more compelling story in place, we can capitalize on our principles and continue to make a greater impact for the families we serve.

  • Volunteer Manager provides overview of the current function and purpose of the board
  • Volunteer Manager shares current or past board role and responsibility descriptions, if any, as well as relevant materials such as internal policies and procedures already in place
  • Volunteer receives a list of relevant executive management to interview or survey, if applicable

Milestone 1: Research & Brainstorming
  • Volunteer connects with Volunteer Manager for brainstorming session to determine organization's needs, board engagement goals, and any missing roles
  • Volunteer interviews executive management, if applicable

  • Professional develops and submits draft clearly identifying board and individual board member roles and responsibilities, function, and structure to Volunteer Manager for review
  • Volunteer Manager provides feedback on Volunteer's suggestions
