Additional details

The MEF is launching an initiative early in 2022 which will include in person events to share information about legacy giving. The print document will tell the story of our Lutheran ministry with a focus on the campaign and will be put in the hands of the attendees. I have envisioned four pages - 11x17, folded, printed 2 sides. This document will have the broad overview of our organization and introduce the campaign. I anticipate content can be modified for emails and newsletter postings.

What we have in place
  • We currently have graphics, logos, good branding, warm audience, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have access to other resources and a 25 year history to draw from, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,002 , allowing us to reserve funds to support more congregational ministries.

We are seeking a new area of funding through end of life giving - legacy gifts. Our grant giving ministry is an endowment fund which awards funds to deserving ministries on an annual basis. As the investment grows, so does the annual amount we are able to give and the more underfunded ministries serving communities can grow.

Group volunteering guidelines

Working as a group on Catchafire
Group projects and calls on Catchafire are a great way for you to make an impact and build stronger relationships with your team members! If you are applying to this opportunity as a group, we recommend you have one designated team lead apply for the project on your group's behalf and act as the primary point of contact with the volunteer manager. When applying, be sure you already have a team organized so that you can start the project soon after matching.
Before applying as a group:
  • Have all group members identified and ready to volunteer
  • Pick one group member to act as a team lead and point of contact with the organization
  • Identify any tools you could use to effectively collaborate together (e.g. chat, email, whiteboarding tools)

Our mission

The Mission Endowment Fund supports new and existing community mission projects across the North Texas and North Louisiana Region. Our Endowment Fund grants support ministries such as food banks, educational scholarships, new programs in the Latinx communities and new initiatives for teens and young adults. We are launching a new program in 2021 to build awareness and promote legacy giving, which will provide funding to expand our support of new and existing ministries and programs across our region.

What we do

The 16-member Board of Directors manages the endowment investment and awards grants annually by approved application. We support new and creative ministries developed by the congregations and organizations in our geographic area to serve their communities, especially the underserved and vulnerable with feeding and educational programs and services. The Board is composed of lay and clergy members/leaders from our Synod (geographic area).
