Project details

What we need
  • Recommendations on the most appropriate cloud-based or open-source Learning Management System, depending on Organization's needs and budget (some platform providers may provide free or heavily discounted plans for 501(c)(3) nonprofits)
  • An implemented e-learning/LMS, such as Moodle, Schoology, TalentLMS, Easy LMS with one course uploaded
  • Training for up to 5 staff on how to set up and use chosen platform
  • Note: This project does not include the creation of courses or learning materials
Additional details

Doing soft launch (virtual/remote version) of our Peace Clubs, a fully developed 4-level curriculum for 8 to 12-year-olds that helps kids cultivate respect and responsibility for themselves, the planet and the global community. Our summer program will be approx 6 weeks and will draw from the existing curriculum with the intention of having a "live" (youtube? Q&A?) session 1/week (45 mins) , and in between creating engagement/activity via FlipGrid, which we need your expertise on.

What we have in place
  • We currently have well-established curriculum / content, which should make it, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a proven track record in this space, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,280 , allowing us to focus on myriad other administrative and development tasks we must also do with a nimble nonprofit team

It's such an opportune time to reach kids at home in the online learning environment. We were getting ready to publish and launch physical/in-person clubs but now see this opportunity to create trusted and valued relationships with kids and families at this unusual time--and our message is so relevant and necessary and we think it will strike a much-needed chord.

Testimonials

We had a vague sense of what we wanted to accomplish--taking a print curriculum for kids and making it virtual and interactive and engaging, and also planning for registrations and contact management while upholding privacy requirements. We knew from the first call that Rick got where we were going and that he would be able to help tease it out and get us where we needed to be on the technology side. That was the part that we just couldn't "see" clearly. He helped us build our back-end curriculum stuff in FlipGrid, a Microsoft educational platform used by teachers and families around the world, while also guiding us on Google forms and maintaining ongoing communication (almost daily!) via Slack (he was open to using whatever methods: email, Google Docs/Drive, etc) for communication and commenting back and forth. We had a few awkward moments at the start just trying to figure out the outline for content. Our outline was way too lengthy and we felt his was a bit too short. So somewhere in the middle it all started to come together. He's also made himself available for support in FlipGrid if we need it for our facilitators and for any other program facilitation we need. He's been outstanding and we highly recommend him for his responsiveness and obvious skill and technological training and experience in the virtual learning space. Thank you Rick, for everything!
